1:1 BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTION
Behaviour Intervention is designed for children who are experiencing language, learning, or behavioural challenges often paired with a diagnosis of autism. The goal is to increase behaviours that are helpful and decrease behaviours that are harmful and/or affect learning.
To begin, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) is assigned to your child and conducts an initial assessment of your child's current skills. Results of the assessment, along with input from parents and professionals, lead to the development of a personalized Behaviour Plan of Intervention. We match your child with a therapist(s)* who, utilizing the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), implements the plan and collects data. Typically, treatment is delivered one-on-one, with strategic peer interaction mixed in where appropriate. Throughout the course of treatment, the BCBA analyzes the data and modifies your child's plan, meets with you to review progress, and provides ongoing training and advice. Areas most often addressed include:
Behaviour Intervention has continuous enrollment and runs year round to ensure continuity for your child. Families enrolled in our centre-based services have access to a web-based parent portal to view session notes. In addition, the parent portal provides 24/7 access to how-to videos and printable resources to help you understand, teach, and communicate better with your child. Parents are welcome to observe and encouraged to participate in their child’s Behaviour Intervention sessions.
