School CONSULTATION

Gateway Behaviour Services provides consultative services for students who may or may not have a diagnosis, but engage in challenging behaviour in Daycare, Preschool, or traditional classroom settings. Our Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs) conduct assessments to determine the function of challenging behaviour, create a Behaviour Plan of Intervention (BPI), and train school personnel.

School Consultation may consist of the following:
  • Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) when challenging behaviour interferes with learning
  • Behaviour Plans of Intervention (BPIs) outlining recommended class-wide and student-specific strategies
  • Assistance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and team meetings
We bring ABA services to you! Through the use of technology, Virtual Consultation offers a valuable alternative to in-person services and closes the gap between those in need and the experts available to help. Our Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs) provide personalized consultation via video conferencing platforms such as Zoom* to caregivers and/or service providers on how to teach their child socially significant skills and to support with the reduction of challenging behaviour.

To begin, the BCBA conducts an initial assessment of your child’s current skills. Results of the assessment, along with input from caregivers and professionals, lead to the development of a Behaviour Intervention Plan. The BCBA then trains and gives caregivers and/or service providers a working knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and the skills necessary to effectively serve as an interventionist and advocate for your child. Throughout the course of treatment, the BCBA analyzes the data and modifies your child's plan, meets with you to review progress, and provides ongoing training and advice.

Virtual Consultation may be an excellent option:
  • During COVID given the requirements to remain physically distant
  • For families who cannot easily access services in their community
  • For families with unique needs and time commitments
  • For prospective families currently waitlisted for services

*Zoom is compliant with Canadian Data Protection regulations, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, locally, the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
